Colleagues will be pleased to learn that last night we won the Labour Leaders’ Council seat in a by-election in “Park Ward” in Fleetwood – part of the Wyre Borough Council.
We won with a 30% swing from Labour to Conservative.
The ward is in Fleetwood, North Lancashire and is the strongest Labour Ward.
The by-election was held because of the death of the Labour group leader.
It was one of their safest seats and has not been Conservative for decades.
The Ward is in the new Constituency of Lancaster & Fleetwood which will become our 114th target constituency and the last one we need to form a Government!
Results: 2003: Labour 600 / Conservative 200
By-Election: 2006: Labour 450 / Conservative: 550
